One For Sorrow (recording) - June 2020
Two screens display the same computer-controlled animation, both respond to live events on Twitter that relate to forests, woodlands, trees and glaciers by displaying relevant terms found in Twitter messages and adjusting the sounds played. However, one version of the animation listens also for Tweets referencing social distancing and whenever such a Tweet is encountered the animation returns to the beginning. I have been monitoring the use of the terms “Social Distancing” and “Keep your Distance” on Twitter for 1 hour every day since 30th March and, while the number of mentions of those terms per minute has decreased significantly, on average, one of those terms is still mentioned twice per minute.
